ICARUS
A few thoughts from the artist.
In one of the most famous ancient Greek myths, Icarus, son of Daedalus, tried to escape Crete by flying with wings made of feathers and wax. As he soared joyfully above the Aegean Sea, the intense heat of the Greek sun melted the wax, and Icarus became lost in the ocean.
In my painting "Icarus," I aimed to follow his perspective as he began to lose altitude during his ill-fated flight. From the height of his wings, the sea stretched below him, but as he descended, the horizon blurred in his eyes until he crashed into the breaking waves.
